When Censu's son Edwin took over the business in 1974 he built on his father's reputation and enhanced the business by successfully introducing over the years Italian specialities which the Maltese were enjoying when abroad. These included delicacies such as Dolci di Mandorla, hand made Torroncini as well as continental style ice creams and combining a myriad of flavours from his distinctive recipes. Over the years the humble confectionery was developed and expanded into an Italian styled Coffee Shop and Tavola Calda, serving a varied menu of foods, savouries, sweets and beverages for on premises consumption and take - away. During this time Busy Bee was also providing quality catering for weddings parties and receptions. One of the Company's most significant developments was the acquisition of Villa Mdina at Naxxar in 1988. This consolidated Busy Bee's leading position in the field of outside catering with what is probably Malta's most saught after venue for any function. It is the first choice for a wedding reception. Edwin Friggieri believes that Busy Bee's success in such a highly competitive sector is due to three main factors:
